Names
Now that I have made it 1/4 of the way through this pregnancy, Mr and I are thinking of going public soon. We will wait until after our 12 week scan before news spreads too far, but I will start telling people as I see them.
The other thing I have started to do is think about names. I don't mind if you want to give feedback, but don't be surprised/upset/offended if I ignore it. I am a bit of a name nerd, and I have a few naming criteria. I like names with:
- one dominant spelling
- one dominant pronunciation
- long formal name
- short, easy to spell shortening/nick-name which can be used as a real, stand alone name.
- uncommon but not unheard of
Girls names aren't TOO hard, because we have a few options from before Bear was born. So far, the list is:
- Francesca (Frank/ie)
- Penelope (so many nick-name options, but I like Nell, Poppy or Polly)
- Josephine (Jo or Josie)
Boys are much more difficult. The boys names I love (and Mr loves too) are very old-fashioned and what my sister describes as "wanky poofter names". Not that I generally use her as my style guide in life. Our frontrunner boys name at the moment is Percival (Percy). Mostly because it is the only one we both like. I also like Gilbert and Malcolm. Mr likes Frederick, but Fred and Ted would be a bit much for me.
