Well, after a lot of poor administration and buck-passing, yesterday didn't happen. The consultant that I saw last week failed to actually book me a space in birthing suites for the ECV, and they couldn't fit me in yesterday. Things have been rescheduled for next Tuesday.
I was so pleased to have my student midwife, as rather than being left sitting in the waiting room for hours on end (as I wasn't actually on the board), she was able to just walk straight in, talk to the head OB, and query what was going on.
The consultant I saw last week overheard the enquiry, and came racing over, trying to palm me off as a confused dim-wim of a patient, claiming that I wasn't supposed to be booked in for an ECV yesterday, and that I was only booked in for a "discussion about the option of an ECV". Which led my midwife to ask what the hell we did in the consultation the previous week, when we discussed the option of an ECV, and I was given all the relevant information. She also questioned why I had been booked in for an ultrasound the previous afternoon, and why I had been asked to fast for 6 hours prior to a "discussion"? It was bleedingly obvious someone had cocked up.
The consultant OB I saw yesterday was very apologetic. Both he and my midwife tried to get birth suites to squeeze me in, but it just wasn't my day.
I am booked in for an ECV next Tuesday. And another scan (they have to do a full ultrasound before the procedure). The OB rang and booked space for me in birth suites while I was in the room, and was contacting medical imaging for me to book the ultrasound (last week I had to go down and book it in myself).
So, we will try for take two next week, when I will be 38 weeks exactly.
