Bitten

The following story is gruesome. It is also about boobs. It may cause your nipples to contract inside of your bodies in sympathy/fear. Little Bird has teeth. Four, to be precise. He is just in the process of finishing cutting his second top tooth. On Sunday afternoon, I was sitting on the lounge feeding him, when Mr came up behind the lounge, unbeknownst to either me or Bird. When he spoke, Bird bit down, and threw his head back, pulling off to see his Daddy. Unfortunately, this also resulted in scraping his bottom top teeth along the underside of my nipple, taking a patch of skin approximately 1cm x 2cm with it. I reactively yelped/yelled, and put him straight on the floor. Not as a direct punishment, but mostly so that I could deal with my breast. I put an icecube on it to help stop it bleeding. And since then, I have been using "Udder Milk", a breast cream made by MooGoo, which I conveniently got for my birthday last week. It is healing, but still hurts. I have mostly been hand expressing off that side, and feeding from the other side. But I have to feed from it occassionally, or I will end up with more lumps. I tell you what though, I have definitely gained an appreciation of the saying, "Once bitten, twice shy". I have been surprised by how nervous I am of feeding Bird now. I know my confidence will come back with time, but at the moment, I am struggling a bit, just taking it feed by feed.
